With so many sites to browse we've saved you time by putting together our own personal recommendations covering travel guides, things to do, eat/drink/dance, further-a-field and recommended accommodation.
Whatever and where-ever you end up we hope you have a great trip!
PATERNOSTER...this traditional fishing village is only 90 minutes drive up the west coast and a great place to stay for a couple of days. Enjoy long sandy beach walks and watch the fishermen go out and catch crayfish & snoek which you can buy direct from their the boats. Make sure you book a house directly on the beach and enjoy amazing mornings and picturesque sunsets. |
DARLING...if you are heading up the West Coast then divert slightly inland and drive between hills of vineyards and wheat fields to find this idyllic village. Away from the main road Victorian homes have been lovingly restored and you must pop by the station to experience the famous Evita se Perron. Darling Tourism |
LANGEBAAN LAGOON...on the opposite side of the town this beautiful lagoon is protected by the West Coast National Park. It takes about 20 minutes to drive through the park to reach the lagoon beaches and, depending on season, the landscape can be an explosion of colours from the flower bloom or you might sight a Southern Right Whale returning to calve. Great place for a picnic, a windsurf or a day trip from Cape Town. |
CEDERBERG MOUNTAINS...August to September is the best time to drive to this area; 1200 species of flowers explode onto the West Coast scene making this a spectular journey. Clanwilliam is the only town where Rooisbos tea is planted and cultivated but most travel further up to experience the breathtaking mountain ranges and to see the cave paintings. Cederberg |
